What I’m Loving

My Sweet Little Wildflowers

The sun has been shining bright and bringing the last of the summer heat, but a familiar breeze has appeared. We are still enjoying our fun in the sun with pool days, playground trips, and a visit to the aquarium this week, but we are also totally excited to get ready for fall! We’ve enjoyed some fall treats and started picking out new autumn decor for our home, and I am ready to bundle up in a cozy sweater once the weather starts to get blustery. And speaking of some cooler weather, I have a few things I’m loving this week that will start to bring some fall fun into your home too. 🙂

No. 1 – Chic Fall Dress

I’m going to be honest, I have been eyeing this dress for a while, waiting for it to be restocked! This dress is the perfect chic fall dress and I can’t wait to add it to my wardrobe as soon as I can! It’s an adorable vintage inspired knitted dress with a sailor collar that just looks like it was made to wear shopping at a Paris farmer’s market in the fall. It’s too cute of a dress not to add to your closet!

No. 2 – Kid’s Fall Calming Activity

My little wildflowers are not calm, they are 100% energy from before the sun rises (they like to wake up at 4:30 a.m. usually) until they finally fall asleep. My 3 year-old son has ADHD and really has a hard time calming himself down emotionally. One of the tricks that has helped him to decompress if he gets riled up is staring at a sensory bottle. Watching the little items flow back and forth around the bottle allows him to focus on what’s happening in the bottle and regulate him back to a calmer state. On The Soccer Mom Blog, she has the cutest Falling Leaves Sensory Bottle tutorial to make an autumn themed sensory bottle. It’s the perfect addition to our calming basket!

No. 3 – Vintage Autumn Playlist

I found this playlist while trying to find some calming music for my kids and I to sit and read to one gloomy afternoon. I’m one of those people who has to have the exact type of music to match my mood (I’m not sure why, I just do) and this video “Vintage Playlist: Autumn” hit the spot! It’s the perfect balance of calm yet upbeat and vintagey (I don’t think that’s a real word) to create the perfect ambiance for a fall blustery day. Light some candles, put on this playlist, and pull out some books for a chill autumn afternoon. 🙂

No. 4 – Pumpkin Crochet Project

This year I made a list for myself of goals that I wanted to achieve or things I wanted to try/learn. One of those goals was to learn how to crochet! Now, I’m just starting out, so I know I’m going to need some practice. But this adorable Rustic Pumpkin Garland crochet pattern from The Knotted Nest is my next crochet project I’m starting this week. It is such a cute decoration to add to your fall mantle, and I think it’ll be really fun to sit and work on while I listen to my fall playlist! 🙂
