Kid’s Mini Library: Christmas Edition

The tree is up, the house is decorated, and I have been playing Christmas music as much as I can to try to get the family into the Christmas spirit! With so much hustle and bustle of fun that comes with the holidays, I really try to take some downtime each day to sit with my little ones and read together. Some days they’ll enjoy reading for almost an hour, some days it’s more like 5 minutes, but no matter! Having that quiet time with them on a regular basis really helps to calm them down when there is so much energy being exerted (emotionally and physically) during the fun of the holidays. Here are the books that we have been reading in our mini “library” that are putting us in the holiday mood 🙂

The Holidays at Roger’s Gardens in Corona Del Mar, CA

Traditions have taken on a new meaning for me, now that I have babies of my own and have started our own holiday traditions. One of my favorite Christmas traditions growing up was to visit Roger’s Gardens in Corona Del Mar, California. This amazing garden boutique transforms for the holidays and turns into a winter wonderland that is the stuff dreams are made of! Each room in the boutique is filled with Christmas trees each with it’s own theme or color scheme and completely decked out in ornaments. Every space in the boutique is decorated with holiday decor, gifts, and trinkets in every theme for the holidays you would want. Outside in their expansive garden, they have their own fresh Christmas tree lot that is so dreamy to walk around and smell the pine scent of the holidays. As a kid, we used to love getting to stroll around at night looking at all of the beautiful ornaments, twinkling lights on the trees, and visit with Santa while enjoying a warm cup of hot chocolate. It truly is such a fun and magical place to visit to get into the spirit of the holidays, and I am so thankful I get to show my little ones one of my favorite places during Christmastime! 🙂

Kid’s Mini Library: Fall Edition

Fall is here and our mini library is all ready to celebrate the autumn season!

Oh how I LOVE fall! The crisp chill to the air, gorgeous array of leaves, and abundance of fun fall activities like trips to the pumpkin patch that make this time of year so fun! My little wildflowers absolutely love to take nature walks during this time of year. We examine all of the neat fall leaves strewn along the ground, gather acorns they find along the trail, and listen to the howl of the wind rustling through the trees. We’ve updated our little “mini library” shelves in our kids’ room for autumn and set up all of our fall themed books that we love to read this time of year. A few of them my kids just love to read over and over, and it makes my heart so happy when a sweet little one runs up to me with a book and yells “Read it, Mama!” The love of reading is such a treasure, I am thrilled that I’ve been able to pass it down to my kids! 🙂 Here is our fall selection of books we have on our shelves and are enjoying on these brisk autumn afternoons:

Kid’s Mini Library: Summer Edition

Our little library all ready for summer!

My little wildflowers absolutely love to read and I’m so thankful because I’m a total book nerd! I’ve read to them since they were babies and always have books on hand for them to pick up and ponder with anytime they please. We all love going to our local library and perusing through the shelves filled with amusing stories waiting to be enjoyed. I thought it’d be fun to make a “mini library” at home with a few simple shelves that we could stock with books that we can change with the seasons and holidays. Here is our summer selection of books we have on our shelves and are enjoying on these hot summer days:
